Fat Burning Bodyweight Cardio at 39 Years Old VS 47 Years “Young”
When it comes to fat-burning exercises, simple, gentle and sustainable is the key. And as you know that means “LIIT” when you’re in AtlasVille…
I don’t care for HIIT, don’t like it and don’t advise any of my clients to do it… and my coaches don’t do HIIT in the SCULPTAFIT studio… Our methods are based on the OPPOSITE approach. And you’ll see a sliver of what I mean in these videos:
We are ALL ABOUT LIIT Workouts. LIIT for Fitness, LIIT for Fat-Loss, LIIT for Longevity, LIIT for LIFE
I recently came across an old fat-burning exercise video and you might surprised to see how I’ve changed since then… not just physically, but you can also see it in my ‘spirit’.. my state of mind.
Check these out and let me know your candid thoughts in the comment box at the bottom of this page.
Here’s the “New” Fat-Burning Bodyweight Cardio Workout at Home or Office with Jump-Rope
I just recorded this one (August 23, 2017) and as I mention in the video, it’s to give you a time-lapse comparsion to the same mini-fat-burning cardio session I did back in 2009, which I’ve posted right under this newer version …
HERE is the Jump-Rope I Use and Recommend <<==
And Below is the “Old Version” (2009) of the Fat-Burning Bodyweight Cardio Workout at Home or Office with Jump-Rope
I uploaded this one into Youtube back in January of 2009.. So, that’s almost 9 full years of time lapse.
Let me know what differences you see between the 2 videos.

Hey Joey, thanks 4 sharing the workout video. I really liked the 1st workout. I especially liked that a OH press /W/ med. ball was added. The older 1 U didn’t add it. I prefer the modified version of a burpee. If I did a regular burpee, I’d have a hard time adding a OH Press.
Joey Atlas says
Hey Lee! Thanks for stopping in and watching. And for the comments 🙂 please do share and keep me posted!

This looks great, but first I need a jump rope. Please add the link you mentioned so I know which one is best.
Thank you so much.

Thanks, Chetna! Here is the JumpRope I use in the Video <<==

Thanks Joey!

You’re very welcome! 🙂

I had an older video of you doing a basic daily routine. I really miss it. I lost it when I put my cell in the washing machine.
Thanks for all of your encouragement.

Dear Joey.
watch both videos and thought they both were good. I guess you are more relax and confident and comfortable with your self in the most recent one. I alway learn something when I take time to listen to the videos thank-you for demo the workouts too. It really helps a lot . This is all good stuff!!
Have a great day?
Joey Atlas says
Aww Thank You, Susan! Glad to hear these help! Was good seeing you at the Studio this eve! 🙂
Jan says
I liked the newest video best. The studio location looks more pro, you appear to be in better shape and your exercises seem to be more precise and controlled. You mentioned that you don’t like burpees and high intensity cardio. Did you ever have injuries from these?
Joey Atlas says
Thanks Jan!
Yes – various types of injuries over the years from the hardcore/high-intensity things. Keeping longevity in mind – the aim is to avoid/reduce risk of injury while getting excellent results.

Dear Joey, thank you so much for sharing these inspiring videos. Certainly no excuse for us to say we don’t have time to go to the gym. I do my exercises in my apartment – sometimes with DVDs with various instructors. Then Sunday I teach yoga in the park.
I have a medicine ball but had never used it the way you are demonstrating on the vide above. I will do it tomorrow morning including the second video that you are doing without the ball. I like the skipping rope but I have a shin problem on my left leg – I dont know what I can do to heal it. The moment i start jumping or running I feel that pain on my shin – but I will try once in a while because I have my rope already.
Joey Atlas says
Ruth great stuff here!! Go easy on that shin – it may just take some time for it to get conditioned for rope skipping. Keep me posted!

Love this work-out Joey, so simple. The difference I see in the two videos is the most recent you appear stronger and more ripped and you seem more confident, at peace with yourself. I’d like to thank you for promoting Liit, so much more manageable and less stressful on the spirit and the body.
Thank you
Joey Atlas says
Well done, Susan – well done 🙂 Thank you for ‘noticing’ the differences!!
Total pleasure, I’m glad my ‘way’ resonates with you, it means a lot in the big picture. Please do share it where you can.
More to come!

Well you look darn cute in first 2009 video…and definitely more professional in the 2017 version. Your body looks exactly the same, 9 yrs later…very impressive Joey. But no surprise to me. It is after all, Joey Atlas, your Fitness Trainer for Life…..
In 2017 think the addition of the medicine ball, PLUS your leg/knee position in the up-and-downs, make a big difference. In 2009 video, your knee, when bringing your bent leg forward, is aligned with your shoulders…in 2017 I notice you have brought your bent leg wider. Almost to the outside of the other knee…am I correct?
I am a LIIT believer. At 69, it is imperative to maintain strength, flexibility and mobility, and your exercise programs have ALWAYS met my needs.
Joey Atlas says
Pennyyyyyyy….!! Love what you share here – you are in the zone! Congrats on what you’re doing for yourself. You’re an inspiration!
And you picked up on all the fine points – from the ‘darn cute’ to legs coming out wider (yes, you’re correct!) in the newer video.. lol.. well done!
The only thing you’re not seeing is the body-composition difference. My numbers are much better now 🙂
Keep me posted on things!

Hey Joey, been following you off and on for years now. So very impressed with everything you have accomplished. I am now 62 years old but find it very difficult to do the dreaded HIIT. It is totally distroying my neck and shoulders. I have osteoporosis and severe arthritis in my neck along with a bulging disc which causes a lot of pain. My question is: Where can I purchase your apparatus you use in all of your videos? All of my friends keep telling me I need to give it all up and accept the fact that I am much older than I use to be. My reply to them is usually “I have never been one who believes that you have to be over weight and out of shape as you grow older”. I have this picture in my mind of being lean and physically fit and strong as I grow old. Is that too much to ask? Take care and keep up the great work! I need to get me one of those sculptifit apparatuses! LOL
Joey Atlas says
Dori Babyyyyyyy!!! So good to hear from you!
Listen, (I’m not ofen foul-mouthed.. but this comes from a place of love, regarding your friends)… F#@k your friends’ lame opinion about “giving up” and getting old the sad way most people do. If they want to live in that unfortunate matrix, so be it – but you DO NOT have to… I know I am not – and I’m going to keep showing my methods and video clips until the day I’m buried – hopefully into my 100’s!
Sure you have to move away from HIIT and into a LIIT based approach. But other than that – YOU ARE ON THE RIGHT TRACK!! So stay on it! You can certainly be healthy, lean and fit all the way to the grave!
IF you’re serious about buying a SCULPTABOD Genius Gym unit please let me know as I’m creating a list of first movers. Also what country are you in?
Thanks Dori!!
Joey
Dori Himes says
Thanks so much Joey! I appreciate the encouragement. I would definitely be interested in the Sculptabod Genius Gym. (depending on cost of course) I am revamping my basement soon into a little gym. We had a housefire due to a lightening strike a year ago and lost everything we owned. (but I on the other hand, gained…about 8 lbs and lost all my muscle tone due to stress eating) We walked away with nothing but the clothes on our backs. We had to tear down to the foundation and we reduced the house to two bedrooms instead of three, so I no longer have that extra room to exercise in. So here I go to the basement! The Sculptabod would be the perfect piece of equipment for the project. Let me know when they’ll be available and how much. I reside in Canton, Ohio, home of the Football Hall Of Fame. (by the way, I get the foul mouth thing….there’s been a lot of here at my house during the past year!!!) LOL
Joey Atlas says
lol, Dori – you are a trooper!! For getting through all this in positivity – LOVE it!! ok so, I’ll keep you posted – but I could use some feedback please…. Knowing the SGG is a complete, lifetime fitness solution that fits in a 4×5 sq ft space, built with top quality/in USA – what price range would you expect this to be in? (not what you’d like to play, lol – but what you’d expect it to be – knowing it’s “the real deal”)..
THANKS!
Joey
Dori says
I would guess it to be somewhere out of my price range Joey! LOL Maybe between $1500 and $3000??? Gosh, I don’t have any idea. My son use to be a welder. If I had him look at it, he could probably guess closer than I could. What are they going for? I’d probably have to save up for it! Lmao ? ???
Joey Atlas says
Thanks, Dori! I’m talking with several fabricators and looking at overseas options… My aim is to get it in the $2000 range. As I’ve been studying the market I see bowflex and total-gym (and a few others) have been selling their sturdier, higher-end products in the $3500-$4500 range – and I KNOW I can beat those prices while offering a superior product, experience and results – not just for one person – but for everyone in the family where my Gym units will go.
How does that sound?
Joey 🙂
Gloria McGill says
G’morning, Joey! I love both videos bc they seem like they would be so easy for me to do without adding too much stress on my knees while giving me a great work -out. The only difference I noticed between the videos is that in one you were using a weight ball and in the other one u had on shoes. Outside of it being filmed in two different rooms…they pretty much look the same. I’ll definitely be doing this work-out today, thank you, Joey!
Joey Atlas says
Well done, Gloria! Yes, the shoeless thing… Working out shoeless adds a valuable dimension to the process and results. I’ll be writing a blog or shooting a video about this to expand…
Keep me posted how you do with this!
Best
Joey
Dori says
Hey Joey, sounds about right. Let me know when they’re available. In the meantime, I’ll need to start saving. ? How much do you think shipping would be on something that heavy? Email me at allottaheart@neo.rr.com when you’re close! Thanks Joey!
Joey Atlas says
Pleasure Dori! Shipping in USA will range between $150-$250. More likely in the $150 zone.
Stay tuned!

I loved both videos but the newer version of the jump rope video was my favourite as I liked the medicine ball usage on the ‘Up and downs’ that exercise is a new one to me as I have been doing NB and your other videos but I would sure like to have a go at this in the future- how long time wise should the whole routine be? Or what would be the limit? When I try this one I’ll have to get a jump rope and medicine ball too- Thanks Joey, your awesome as always ?
