30-Minute LIIT Chest and Back Workout In the Sweet Home Gym

Joey Atlas / November 22, 2017

30-Minute LIIT Chest and Back Workout In Sweet Home Gym

This is last night’s 30-Minute LIIT Chest and Back Workout In the Sweet Home Gym

You’ll see a few key elements of my methods:

1 – Bodyweight exercises
2 – Band Exercises
3 – A Medicine Ball Exercise at the end
4 – No Dumbbells in this session

==>> Side Note: Watch me get the mosquito at the 20 second mark**

5 – Slow, Controlled movements
6 – Pausing for the isometric part of certain exercises
7 – Minimal rest between sets
8 – Nothing forced or with ill form
9 – No screaming, yelling or ‘tough-guy’ grunting

As you watch me go through the session you’ll notice my signature AV movements when and where I can implement them.

The variety in all the dips, pull-ups, chin-ups, push-ups, push-offs, band push-downs, band flies and pullovers make for a multi-dimensional, deep muscle-fiber stimulating workout.

Everything together makes for a
short but incredibly effective training session – all right at HOME.

Any questions, comments or thoughts? Just post below, and I’ll reply here asap!

And please do share this with ANYONE you know who needs a good example to follow. They’ll appreciate it and so will I 🙂

Here’s A Typical Day of Eating for Me; May Look Odd But It WORKS

Last week, my friend Don (he’s in Pennsylvania) and I were talking about the ‘SCULPTABOD’ Home Gym Project, and a few other things fitness related…

He’s invented several fitness ‘home runs’ of his own (I’ll share who he is in the near future) and now owns a large fitness equipment company that distributes his fitness product line around the world…

He believes I have a BIG winner in the SCULPTABOD Gym Unit and is giving me some helpful guidance as I gear up to produce the first bunch for early “Founder Buyers”…

He was looking at a few of my recent training videos and in one of his emails he wrote; “You’re looking ‘ripped’. Please send me your meal plan summary.”

So that night, before bed, I typed this up and sent it to him:

—————————————————————
Here it is, Don – this will give a good example – but many days are slightly different or a little varied from what you see here. Any Q’s just let me know. Happy to help modify/adjust for your specific needs etc

This is what a “typical” day looks like:

Morning “coffee” around 7:15 am (this is after an early 2 mile run/jog)
– about 10 oz almond milk
– 3 shots espresso
– heaping tablespoon cacao powder
– some stevia powder
– tablespoon coconut sugar
– heaping tablespoon of this plant-based protein powder

That holds me until about 10 or 10:30am, which then consists of:

– one, or several, of the following:

— carrots, cucumber, tomato, melon, strawberries (high water veggies/fruits)

— I also have this greens powder drink around this time as well

— then, at about 11:30 or noonish I’ll have one or two homemade “no bake” protein bars ( I make a batch on the weekends and they last me through the week, sometimes even having one in later afternoon, depending on daughter’s soccer schedule, my workout time (on the ‘SCULPTABOD’), which is usually just before dinner.

If I haven’t made more bars, or I run out – I then go to mixed nuts and some kind of fruit or veggie during the day. This can also be a ‘concoction’ – which looks like this:

– 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
– 1 tablesoon chia seeds
– 1 tablespoon ground flax
– 1 heaping tablespoon of natural peanut butter (or almond butter)
I basically put those in a small bowl and eat with a spoon…

This combo not only gives me all kinds of nutrients, fiber, etc – but it holds the appetite for a few hours.

I don’t like to eat heavy or large volume during the day – so the above approach works extremely well. And if I’m not hungry – I simply don’t eat right away (I’ll wait), or eat a smaller version of what you see above.

This takes me to dinner time (again, my training session is usually just before dinner and is only 30 minutes max) – and dinner looks something like this:

Dinner example VERSION 1:

Dense salad (large bowl of mixed baby greens, chopped a bit)
– some chopped red onion (or green onion)
– various seasoning (black pepper, Colima sea salt, turmeric, 21 herb/spice from Costco)
– olive oil
– balsamic vinegar

Protein might be a handful of mixed nuts (brazil, pecans, macadamia, almonds) and half ounce of good cheddar cheese

Carbs are light (this is one of the keys to me staying lean, from a nutrition/food perspective) – this might be a small piece of good multi-grain bread (such as the small size of Dave’s organic killer bread)

If it’s been a really active day and I feel I can use some more carbs, I may have more in the form of a healthy dessert, like a natural “brownie” and some fruit later on before bed. Or, sometimes this could be a half of one of these organic belgium chip protein bars

Dinner example VERSION 2:

Steamed or sauteed veggie or mixed veggies (all the good ones) green beans, broccoli, cauliflower, etc…

HERE’S AN EXAMPLE RECIPE VIDEO:
broccoli and broth sautee healthy recipe video
I make these with healthy fats; avocado oil, coconut oil, olive oil, etc.. and the seasonings I listed above for the salad example.

Protein might be 3-4 oz of Wild Planet sardines – or 2 medium boiled large eggs (love these)
(Or I may open a can of lentils or chick peas and have those for protein.. not the whole can of course)

Carbs might be from quinoa cooked in chicken broth instead of water – and then seasoned to taste.
… or, sometimes carbs might be from healthy tortilla chips (organic, multigrain …and good salsa)

I love dark chocolate so at some point after dinner I usually have a mixture of organic dark chocolate chips and coconut in small cup and eat it with a spoon.. just enough to satisfy my dark chocolate/sweet tooth… (In the old days, when I didn’t have my eating in check, I’d eat a massive bowl of ice-cream or some other stupid thing that would keep me puffy)

That’s a good summary…

SOME EXTRA NOTES:

I don’t drink sodas or juices, and stopped drinking any alcohol over a year ago.

My protein bars are a good mixture of protein, fats, fiber and just enough healthy carbs. The ‘convenience & nutrition all-in-one’ make the days easier.

You might notice above, I don’t eat much meat. It wasn’t a conscious decision… My appetite has just decreased for read meat, chicken etc…

I do have some every now and again, not against it – just seems leaning toward plant based feels better…

…And my medical stats have actually been improving the last 3 years in a row by following what I’ve outlined above. This is SWEET.

Any questions just let me know – happy to talk more about specifics if you want at some point.
– J

Complete Home Gym In Small Townhouse Challenge

Some VERY exciting developments have taken place in the last few days – AND I NEED YOUR INPUT on part of this MAJOR undertaking…

First watch the short video – then read below…

Here’s where I need YOUR PERSONAL INPUT… (remember we did this a few years ago – and this is how I came up with the SCULPTAFIT Studio name)

NOW, it’s time to name the All in One Gym Unit/Machine you see in the video… And you might be wondering; “Well, I thought you named it The SCULPTABOD Genius already??”

Sort of – see, it used to be (about 11 years ago it started) called “The ATLAS Unit”… Then, with the opening of the SCULPTAFIT Studio, I started calling it the “SCULPTABOD Genius”

And now – as I gear up to produce more of them to offer to people who want one for their home or office – and to independent trainers who want one for themselves and to train clients on… We are feeling different naming scenarios come into the picture…

So, in the comment box below, please let me know which of these unique names you like – or if you have some suggestions of your own – please do share…

1 – The BODYLEVER / The BODYLEVER Gym (in almost every exercise the body is used as a lever in some way or variation)
2 – The PUSHPULLGYM (almost every move that is done is either a ‘push or a pull’ or both combined, movement)
3 – The BodEvolver / or The BodyVolver (evolving the body)
4 – Please add your brainstorm or suggestions below – who knows – it might become the actual brand name!!!

And if what I share in the video triggers any questions comments or thoughts, please post below and I’ll reply there today.

THANK YOU!!

Quick & Healthy Tomato Sizzle-Bake Anti-Aging Recipe

Yes, technically a tomato is a fruit. But, in reality we all treat it more like a veggie.

Either way – the tomato is a nutritional powerhouse, delivering all kinds of beneficial elements to the body.

On that note, I share with you yet another super-simple and healthy way to cook a tomato for a dinnertime veggie option:

4 Steps to a Delicious Dinner Veggie – The Tomato

1 – Preheat Oven to 400
2 – Slice Tomato into 1/2 inch slices
3 – Flip in Avocado Oil to get both sides
4 – Add Seasonings of Choice and then bake for about 15 minutes

( Here’s the Colima Sea Salt I use )

DONE.

Combine with a protein and a light carbohydrate.. maybe a small salad too.

ENJOY!

Short LIIT Shoulder Workout On the SCULPTABOD Genius Home Gym

Like most people – I don’t want to spend 1 extra minute than I have to when it comes to my workouts, even if in the home gym…

I don’t “Live to Be In the Gym”… I don’t get my socializing done in the gym… And I don’t identify myself with my time/effort spent in the gym…

My workouts are designed to serve my life – not “be my life”

And this is what I’d like to share with you… So, if this perspective resonates with you – then I invite you to stick around…

This short LIIT Shoulder workout is yet another example of what I speak about above:

Like all the others – this one:

– is under 30 minutes
– involves other mind/body ‘systems’ in order to get the most benefits in the shortest time
– dramatically decreases risk of injury by removing/reducing momentum in the exercises
– leverages asymmetrical variance, unilateral focus, LIIT and movement synergy to get the most stimulation in the least time

As always I’d love to hear your thoughts, comments or questions below – so please use that space – it’s there for you.

And please do share today’s SCULPTABOD Genius home gym video with anyone you know who may benefit from it. Just use the ‘easy’ buttons below:

My Healthy Protein Bar Experiment: These Mystery Protein Bars Are LIIT

I thought it would be a great idea to share My Latest Healthy Protein Bar Experiment with YOU…

I have a bunch of tried and true protein/nutrition bar & cookie recipes I’ve been making for years, and lately I’ve been pushing the limits on certain recipes to get more mileage and benefits out of them…

I do want to bring these to market because everyone who tries them is BLOWN AWAY by the taste and the “fitness effects”, so I’ll be keeping you posted about timing on that…

While not perfect, and considering I didn’t follow a “specific” recipe, These All-Natural, Mystery Protein Bars Are “LIIT” (LIIT in terms of the slang word – and in terms of being in line with my LIIT approach to fitness and workouts).

I’ll share more details and recipe specifics in future videos/posts – but for now, I’ll share most of what went into this spur of the moment protein bar experiment.

1 – Organic Coconut Flour ( International link is here )
2 – Hemp Protein Powder ( Intl link is here )
3 – Organic Chia Seeds
4 – Organic Flax Meal
5 – Organic Stevia Powder
6 – Dark Chocolate Chips from Trader Joe’s
7 – Organic Coconut Sugar
8 – Organic Superfood Powder
9 – Water

From the refrigerator, these nutrient-dense, appetite suppressing, super-satisfying, organic, healthy protein bars are actually quite tasty. BUT, at room temp, they got very soft and hard to handle…

My “test bar” that I left on the counter fell apart when I tried picking it up. So, I’ll be going back to the drawing board in the next week or two, with the goals of creating a “room temp” protein bar that will also travel well.

If you enjoyed this “Atlas In the Kitchen” video, please do share it with someone you know who will appreciate it. Just use the ‘easy’ buttons below, and help speread the word of proper fitness and health enhancing nutrition.

Any questions, comments or thoughts? Please share below, you know I love hearing from you…

1st Workout In New Home Gym Garage Is a LIIT Shoulder Focused Session

If you saw the previous video ( Home Gym Horror Show; “Will I Have Enough Space?” ) – the one I shot just a few hours before this LIIT Shoulder Focused Session in my New Garage Home Gym and Fitness Area, then you’ll see that progress is already being made in the challenge I’m tackling at the time of this post (if you somehow come across it years later – the picture will most likely be VERY different 🙂

Here is PART 3 of My Home Gym Transplant and Fitness Room Makeover

A few things you might notice…

The sounds in the background; wind-chimes, kids playing, cars, etc… I set up the Atlas Candid Cam right outside the garage on the driveway – and it picks up everything – all good 🙂

Ok – that’s is for now… Stay tuned for PART 4 coming soon…
